Walk up start for vaxx clinic

VACCINATION appointments will no longer be required at Northeast Health Wangaratta's (NHW) Tone Road vaccination clinic, as the rural city continues its vaccination drive.

The rural city exceeded the 70 per cent double dose mark for its 16 and over population last week, and, with first dose records now well in advance of 95 per cent, the move to permanently open the clinic for walk–ins hopes to further bridge the gap between first and second dose recipients.

Following an increase in vaccine availability, the gap between Pfizer dosages has been halved from six weeks to three weeks, with anyone aged 12 or over eligible to receive a Pfizer vaccination.

According to a NHW spokesperson, existing appointments will be honoured, meaning those electing to walk in may experience a short wait period, however, details can be pre–registered at https://portal.cvms.vic.gov.au/ to minimise wait times.

Outreach vaccination services are also set to continue this week, as part of a concerted effort to assist isolated or hard to reach members of the community.

Vaccinations will be carried out at Whitfield's Mountain View Hotel on Wednesday from 12pm to 6.30pm, while an Aboriginal vaccination clinic will be available at Apex Park, Wangaratta every Thursday from 10am to 3pm.

All attendees to the Tone Road or outreach vaccination clinics should ensure they bring their Medicare card.
