WANGARATTA Rovers coaches and players will forgo their usual match and season payments should the Ovens and Murray return at some stage this season.

While football sides have been granted the ability to return to training, albeit in separate groups of 10, from Monday, a return date for matches is uncertain with growing belief that the 2020 season could be lost entirely.

AFL Victoria announced last month that league salary caps would be cut in half meaning the O&M would fall from $160,000 to $80,000 should 18 rounds be played while a further $4,444 would be docked per match played under 18.
