Local trainers thrive at race day

THE major drainage works undertaken at Wangaratta Racecourse proved their value on Tuesday in the face of a torrential downpour.

The first six races were completed while clouds gathered, but heavy rain and lightning forced a slight delay before the final two races could be run.

Despite the lashing rain, Wangaratta Turf Club CEO Sean Barrett said the day was a massive success.
