WANGARATTA'S Phillipson Street clinic will be able to welcome local 40 to 59 year olds to receive their Pfizer shots from next week, after taking delivery of the vaccine.
"We believe we are among the first GP clinics in Wangaratta to have Pfizer," practice manager Deb Bridgfoot said.
She said 40 to 59 year olds who are not patients at the clinic could make an appointment for next week by phoning 5721 2167, and vaccinations would be carried out at St Patrick's Hall in Ford Street.
"We have a number of appointments, and once we get to a certain point, we will take names and give them a call when more appointments become available," Ms Bridgfoot said.
"Because we haven't publicised it, we have just been vaccinating people who walk through the door, and at the moment are doing 60 vaccinations a week.
"As far as Astra Zeneca, we have given more than 5000 doses, and demand has dropped off to the point where we are giving five or six first doses a week."
Ms Bridgfoot said appointments for a second dose would be made on the day of the first vaccination.
