Around 150 people stood with Wangaratta police on Monday morning in a National Police Remembrance Day service close to the community's hearts.

The service honoured two policemen, Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de-Waart-Hottart who were shot and killed at Porepunkah last month.

Their loss remains raw within the community and in particular for the local force.
