IN 2001 an oil spill affected the large population of little penguins living on Phillip Island (Millowl) and a call went out from the Wildlife Centre for knitted jumpers.
The jumpers were needed to keep the penguins warm and to stop them ingesting the oil as they tried to preen themselves.
