MEMBERS of the Wangaratta Bridge Club recently gathered to celebrate the 80th birthday of long–standing member Marie Wallis.

A surprise luncheon was held at a local winery and Marie was somewhat overwhelmed by the numbers present.

Her friends and fellow players wished to acknowledge the outstanding contribution she has made to bridge in the district.

Marie regularly conducts classes for beginners and has been instrumental in the continued growth of the club.

Players meets on Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings at the Wangaratta Bridge Club which is located at the river end of Evans Street and adjacent to the showground's cloakroom.
