A 100-year-old Citroen will roll into Wangaratta today as part of a commemoration of Nevill Westwood and Greg Davies' 1925 round-Australia trip in a similar vehicle.
The missionaries and their Citroen 5CV, 'Bubsie', battled scorching heat, mechanical breakdowns and the sheer isolation of the outback to make history with the first car to circumnavigate Australia during their epic adventure a century ago.
This year's anniversary celebration tour is retracing the path of Nevill, Greg and Bubsie in a similar Citroen 5CV, and an event at the Wangaratta Library on Wednesday, 12 November from 3.15pm will give locals the chance to hear about both trips.
The visitors - who will be on the road until January 23 - will also be at the Benalla Library on Thursday, 13 November from 11.45am.
It's an opportunity to see this 100-year-old vehicle up close, to imagine the challenges faced by its courageous drivers, and to connect with the spirit of adventure that drove them across thousands of miles of uncharted territory.
