Visitors to O'Brien's Real Estate were surprised with a little early Christmas magic this week when team member Peter Joyce stepped into the role of Santa’s helper.
With cheerful energy and plenty of festive spirit, Peter helped spread joy through the office and to customers, creating the perfect lead-in to this year’s Give a Gift campaign.
The Centre Against Violence (CAV), UMFC and Gateway Health are once again joining forces to bring holiday cheer to local children and young people from newborn to 18.
The Give a Gift campaign collects presents and essential items for families who need extra support during the Christmas season.
This year, O'Brien's Real Estate has given the campaign a very welcome boost with a five hundred dollar donation.
Their kindness reflects a strong belief in looking after local families, especially during a time of year that can be particularly challenging.
Melanie Martens, business manager for O'Brien Real Estate, shared why the team felt so strongly about supporting the appeal.
“I think being a real estate business, we are very conscious of housing and how important that is to people," Melanie said.
"It is a hard time of the year as well, being Christmas.
"We really feel that families that are struggling deserve extra support.
"We felt that this was a very meaningful way to support those families who are doing it tough.
"We know that housing is in a shortage and this was our way to give back to the community as best we could.”
Last year, more than 290 children and young people received gifts and school supplies through the Give a Gift program.
With growing community involvement, the three partner organisations hope to reach even more families this year.
Everyone can help make a difference.
Community members are encouraged to donate a gift, spread the word or contribute online.
Every act of generosity adds warmth and excitement to a child’s Christmas morning.
