Despite recent wet weather, Wangaratta only recorded 31.4mm of rain last month, marking it as the 24th driest October Wangaratta has seen in the past 100 years.
While October hasn’t made a significant difference in the yearly rainfall total, it is the highest monthly total the rural city has experienced since July.
Rain was recorded at the Bureau of Meteorology's weather station at Wangaratta Airport on just seven days of October.
This brought the total yearly rainfall for the rural city up to 372.8mm, which is still significantly below the historical average of 510.2mm for the first 10 months of the year.
Wangaratta's coldest minimum temperature last month of -0.8 degrees Celsius was recorded on 7 October, and the maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius was recorded on 16 October.
The bureau's outlook for November is a 63 per cent chance of above median rainfall (more than 42.3mm), a 30 per cent chance of usually wet weather (above 69.4mm), and a 15 per cent chance of usually dry weather (less than 24.8mm).
The forecast for November includes an 85 per cent chance of above median maximum temperatures (more than 25.8 degrees Celsius) and a 76 per cent chance of above median minimum temperatures (more than 10.4 degrees Celsius).
The bureau’s long-range forecast for November to January shows daytime temperatures are likely to be above average for most of Australia except in parts of eastern New South Wales, overnight temperatures are very likely to be above average across most of Australia, while rainfall is likely to be above average for parts of the east and below average for parts of the north and west.
