Spring is well underway which can only mean the much-anticipated return of the La Dolce Vita Festival.
But this beloved King Valley event is not just home to Nonna’s famous gnocchi from Pizzini Wines and Australian-grown Prosecco from Dal Zotto Wines, it’s also home to our enduring multicultural community.
Contrary to the beliefs of some, multiculturalism has been a blessing for our country.
Celebrating other cultures not only builds character, it also builds a community; one that is built through connection and understanding.
Events like the La Dolce Vita Festival remind us that we are united not in spite of our differences, but because of our differences.
A three-day festival dedicated to basking in the vibrance of Italian culture, recognising the generational efforts of Italian migrants, and, above all, connecting with our rich and abundant community and all they have to offer.
What an immeasurable privilege it is to be allowed to enjoy and participate in the very aspect that makes our community so unbreakable; our diversity.
It also brings a massive boost to the local economy, from the King Valley to Wangaratta itself, with other hospitality and small businesses expected to benefit from the influx of tourists.
It's also a good reason for locals to head out for a day trip to visit some of the country's best wineries which are often overlooked by those nearest them.
Relish the spirit – and the delicious flavours - of the King Valley at the La Dolce Vita Festival.
And as the saying goes, food – and wine – does indeed unite us.
