Wineries from the North East have shared state honours at the 45th Annual Victorian Wine Show.
The only show that is solely devoted to Victorian wines, the judging brought together industry leaders, winemakers, sommeliers and retailers, all working to benchmark and celebrate the excellence of Victorian wine.
Judging took place in Nagambie over three intensive days, with a total of 623 entries from 123 wineries.
Brown Brothers of Milawa won two of the 21 trophies on offer, with Best Other White Variety or Blend awarded to Brown Brothers 2022 Patricia Noble Riesling and
Best Cabernet Sauvignon awarded to Brown Brothers 2023 Patricia Cabernet Sauvignon.
Beechworth-based winemaker Adrian Rodda also won two trophies, with his A. Rodda 2024 Willow Lake Vineyard Chardonnay named both the Best Chardonnay and Best White Wine of the Show.
The International Judge's Award went to Indigo Vineyard's 2024 Small Batch Shiraz Viognier, while Rutherglen's Bullers Winery won Best Fortified Wine with the Bullers Calliope NV Rare Muscat.
The show's chair of judges, Josh Coope, said the winning wines exemplified the amazing diversity and varietal suitability across many of Victoria’s distinguished wine regions.
One of Victoria’s oldest family-owned wineries, Tahbilk near Nagambie, won the Most Successful Exhibitor Trophy – a noteworthy result for the Purbrick family who are celebrating 100 years of ownership in 2025.
