WITH rain impacting matches across all cricket grades, Delatite's A grade side was able to salvage a result against Benalla Bushrangers at the Gardens Oval in Benalla on Saturday.

Delatite won the toss and put the Bushrangers in to bat, chasing down the 8/112 total with relative ease.

After Benalla opener Jack Fullager fell for seven runs thanks to a pearler from Peter Scales, the Bushrangers rallied around Michael Honman (12) and Greg Hoysted (28) who kept the innings afloat.

Benalla were 2/42 before Delatite's Mitch Purcell got stuck into the Bushrangers – Purcell bowled Hoysted before combining with Earl Ree–Goodings to dismiss Conor Brodie (17) and Jonty Priest (one run).

After Lee Brennan was forced to retire hurt on four runs, the Benalla tail was exposed and with the exception of Simon Briggs (18), didn't offer much resistance.

At the end of their 28 over innings, the Bushrangers made 8/112 – Purcell's figures of 3/27 were the standout for Delatite, with Trent Berry's 2/14 a useful boost.

With the target in sight, Delatite's openers got underway, amassing 34 runs for the first wicket before Mitchell Copey (32) was caught by Liam Curtis off the bowling of Brodie.

Ree–Goodings and Nick Scales kept the runs ticking over, before Blake Spokes sent them both back to the sheds.

After a brief collapse brought Delatite to 4/84, Purcell came to the crease and threw the bat at anything he could, bashing 40* from 45 deliveries to get his side over the line with overs in hand.

Simon Briggs was best with the ball for Benalla, finishing with 2/22 from his five overs, while Spokes' 2/32 came at a crucial time.
