Don't miss out on the biggest event Winton Motor Raceway has seen in years at the Winton Festival of Speed from Friday, 1 August at 8am to Sunday, 3 August 8pm.
The weekend will reveal the exciting world of historic motorsport with retro racing - seeing more than 300 of some of Australia's best race cars including feature races from Group N with the 50KM Enduro Cup and Group C & A with the Winton Triple Challenge plus a grand display of show cars each day over the weekend.
Co-chair Ian Ross said the weekend will have all the action and all the excitement.
"Most of the races have 25 to 40 cars in every race, the racing today in modern areas there are no more than 20 cars at a time, so it's a lot of cars on the track at one time," he said.
"There's a lot of rare cars coming out that ran in the 1980s and 90s that no longer race that have been in museums, but we're not talking old decrepit stuff, we're talking race cars, V8 super cars and the like."
Racing categories this year include Historic Touring Cars from the 1960s through to the 1990s, with Heritage Touring Cars - Group C & A and new for 2025 five Litre Touring Cars, Group N as well as HQ Racing, Historic Sports Sedans, MG and Alfa Racing, Touring Car Tributes, Formula Ford and others.
There’s nothing quite like the thunder of these historic machines attacking the unique and challenging layout that Winton Moto Raceway offers.
With multiple clear and visible spectator viewing points around the circuit you won’t miss a second of the action.
Mr Ross said the event isn't just for racing enthusiasts like himself, it's for anyone who is curious.
"We're showcasing an era of racing that was the golden age, back when racing was accessible," he said.
"We'll be seeing cars from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, back when racing was at its highest level of interest in Australia because people could see a car they potentially drove or they admired or they wanted to buy one day on the track.
"Nowadays racing is artificial, race cars are more like space ships, but racing in that period used real cars turned into race cars.
"We will have on the track cars that any of the spectators could buy and transform into a race car."
Enjoy full access that will see you walking through the garages, talking to the drivers, touching the cars and soaking in the wonderful sounds and aromas of this iconic circuit that was established in 1961.
In conjunction with proud VHRR supporters, there will be over 500 stunning car club vehicles on display around the circuit.
A Friday night car show will also be held in the heart of Benalla on the weekend.
Winton Motor Raceway provides camping facilities for spectators and competitors to make it a weekend of supporting your racing habit.
