Audiences are invited to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon of world-class chamber music as Acacia Quartet, one of Australia’s most respected string ensembles, performs a captivating program of classical and contemporary works in November.

Presented by the Benalla Art Gallery, the concert is being held at the Benalla Town Hall on Saturday, 29 November at 3pm, while the gallery undergoes its exciting redevelopment.

Audiences will be treated to Joseph Haydn’s radiant Sunrise Quartet, Nick Wales’ exhilarating Harbour Light, and Maurice Ravel’s luminous String Quartet — a program celebrating both timeless European classics and the vibrancy of Australian composition.

Acacia Quartet said it was looking forward to including Benalla into its new touring schedule with one of its favourite programs, and can't wait to perform and make new friends.

Acacia Quartet brings together musicians Anna Martin-Scrase (cello), Doreen Cumming (violin), Lisa Stewart (violin) and Stefan Duwe (viola).

The quarter was formed in 2010 and has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic and respected string ensembles.

With 12 albums to their name, they are celebrated for their inventive programming and commitment to Australian composers, and have been nominated for multiple music awards.

Places for the concert are strictly limited and tickets are available at events.humanitix.com/concert-acacia-quartet, by calling 5760 2619, or email gallery@benalla.vic.gov.au.
