A touring exhibition showcasing the textile artwork of Ozquilt Network members from across Australia and overseas, has arrived at the Bainz Gallery in the Wangaratta Library.

Australia Wide Nine will be featured at the gallery for the month of December, with local Ozquilt member Kerryn Taylor to deliver a floor talk about the featured quilts on Thursday, 4 December at 5pm.

Kerryn said the exhibition demonstrates the scope and variety of stitched and layered textiles, with materials used ranging from cotton and silk, to paper and cardboard.

She said techniques on display include hand and machine stitching, digital high-resolution image printing, needle felting, gelatin printing, plant dyeing, collage and painting.

"The standard of design in the quilts is the best I have seen in all the Australia Wide exhibitions that we have had in Wangaratta," she said.

"The works are exceptional.”

There are 35 works on display in a 40cm x 40cm format, which address many different themes in a diverse range of interpretations and styles.

Australia Wide Nine is an initiative of Ozquilt Network Inc whose mission is to raise the status and profile of art quilters and art quilt making in Australia.
