St Bernard’s Primary School is set to transform into a vibrant hub of creativity this weekend, as it hosts its annual Art Show from Friday, 7 November through to Sunday, 9 November.
Now in its 12th year, the exhibition continues to grow in scale and spirit, celebrating artistic expression from across the region and beyond.
Tonight's official opening from 7pm promises an evening of inspiration and community connection - with tickets still able to be booked via Eventbrite.
The exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
A special highlight this year is the introduction of the Makers Market on Saturday from 10am to 2pm, featuring handcrafted goods by local artisans.
Visitors can enjoy a sausage sizzle, drinks, and face painting for children, making it a fun outing for the whole family.
The show features a diverse range of artworks submitted by both emerging and established artists from Melbourne, regional Victoria, and New South Wales.
Eight award categories will be judged, alongside two dedicated student sections, showcasing the talents of young artists from both primary and secondary schools.
Principal Patricia Boak said many of the artists have been entering the exhibition since it started.
"Our goal is to encourage artists to create artworks and to provide opportunities for artists to exhibit to an authentic and appreciative audience," she said.
"Our exhibition also features an inspiring collection of student artwork, showcasing the creativity, skill, and fresh perspectives of emerging young artists.
"There are student categories and all children both primary and secondary had the opportunity to submit an entry.
"It's a great way to foster their talent and experience the satisfaction of seeing their work on display in an exhibition."
The exhibition encourages guests to engage with the artworks, reflect on their meanings, and perhaps even take a piece home, just in time for Christmas gifting.
Attendees can also participate in creative workshops.
On Sunday, an acrylic painting class led by local artist Lisa Leahy will run from 10:30am to 12:30pm for ages 13 and up.
Bookings for this session can be made online via TryBooking.
For more information and ticket bookings, visit the event page on Eventbrite or contact St Bernard’s Primary School directly.

There there by Mat Vaughan
A new series of large-scale paintings by North East Victorian artist Mat Vaughan are being exhibited at the Wangaratta Art Gallery in Gallery 2.
For Vaughan, the phrase "there there" carries a dual weight; it soothes, it signals, it seeks - his works offering the viewer the space to step into a moment where the world seems to stop, when one’s breathing comes to the fore and one lives precisely in the present.
There there can be seen in Gallery 2 until 9 November.

Wangaratta Art Gallery artist talk
Melbourne-based artist Kate V M Sylvester will discuss her practice during an in-conversation event before the opening of her new exhibition, Pleats of Matter, in Gallery 2 of the Wangaratta Art Gallery next week.
Inspired by French philosopher Gilles Deleuze’s idea that matter and time are always shaping each other, Kate’s work explores how humans and nature are deeply connected.
By slowly taking apart a basic t-shirt and exposing the multitude of layers and fabric that constitute its weave, she encourages us to think about the materials we use and how they reflect our relationship with the world around us.
The artist talk and opening will be held on Thursday, 13 November at 5pm and it is free to attend with bookings appreciated for catering purposes at wangarattaartgallery.com.au/Programs/.
