A WANGARATTA manufacturer has put plans for a $4 million expansion of its operations on hold because of the impact COVID-19 has had slowing down Victoria’s housing market. George Prothero, managing director at Alpine Truss, said they had proposed a $4 million development, involving a 2500sqm extension to its existing Tone Road factory costing $1.5 million to house new state of the art equipment worth $2.5 million. He said the extension and new computerised technology will give Alpine Truss a competitive edge over others in Victoria and southern NSW producing roof trusses, wall frames and flooring systems.
