IT seems Wangaratta’s reputation as a bike-friendly town just went up a few gears, with the recent placement of ‘shared lane’ markings or ‘sharrows’ on the repurposed Cusack Street, as part of the Railway Precinct Enhancement Project.

RoadSafe North East has welcomed the innovative road treatment which means bikes and cars will now co-exist in a shared space, with a lower speed limit of 40km per hour.

Cusack Street is an important connector in the project’s welcoming gateway for visitors travelling by rail, and for locals, linking the railway precinct and the CBD.
