A free outdoor health and wellbeing initiative for Victorian veterans and serving Australian Defence Force personnel preparing for civilian life is among the programs which received funding through this year's Anzac Day Proceeds Fund.
Together with the Victoria Remembers program, for which funding recipients have also recently been announced, the Anzac Day Proceeds Fund aims to strengthen support for the veteran community with funding to honour their service, protect their legacy and promote wellbeing.
Adventure Works Australia, which has a small base in the North East, is partnering with Geelong Adventure Specialists and Asset Connecting Communities to provide the statewide Navigate Veterans Journey, which is supported by the state government and guided by veterans.
The program has been piloted over several years, and received its first full year funding in 2025, with the $150,000 from the Anzac Day Proceeds Fund set to draw in more participants - including those from the local region - over the next year.
The free Navigate program aims to make veterans' transition to civilian life easier and healthier.
Developed and co-delivered in collaboration with veterans, it is built for the veteran community.
Its motto, 'Rest, reflect, reset,' reflects the program's focus on the proven benefits of time in nature, safe social connection, gentle physical activity, and a robust therapeutic framework.
Together, the organisations involved are committed to improving the lives of veterans and strengthening the community by supporting improvements in health and wellbeing; creating opportunities for veterans to connect, share experiences and learn from each other; exploring identity and life transitions; and enabling veterans to shape a service that benefits their peers.
This year, Navigate will bring together experienced veterans who have successfully navigated the transition to civilian life with those currently planning it, including serving ADF members.
