A COMMUNITY not-for-profit organisation passionate about reducing road trauma says it strongly supports proponents of the King Valley Infrastructure Project and its mission to see the Wangaratta-Whitfield Road upgraded and to have the cycling rail trail extended to Cheshunt.

RoadSafe North East says while generally it likes to talk about road user behaviour as the main determinant of safety, a separated bike trail would be better for cyclists and improvements to the road would benefit all road users.

RoadSafe North East spokesperson John Myles said in its present form, the organisation would not consider the Wangaratta-Whitfield Road as a safe road for cyclists to use.
