A $500,000 upgrade on two netball courts and lighting at North Wangaratta Football Netball Club will go ahead after delays in the delivery stemming from the national ‘sports rorts’ inquiry.
Minister for Sport, Richard Colbeck, told the Wangaratta Chronicle this week that an initial 80 per cent ($400,000) was paid, a day after the agreement with the Rural City of Wangaratta council was executed.
However, this is some 16 months after the funding was announced in April 2019 just prior to the federal election in 2019, as it was one of several items that was tied up in what was to be coined as the ‘sports rorts’ saga.
