UPDATE

A cattle truck rollover on Tuesday morning saw a man hospitalised and cattle across the Hume Freeway at Winton.

Emergency services closed the freeway from Glenrowan to Benalla in both directions following the incident in the southbound lanes about 9:20am, near Benalla-Winton Road.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics assessed a man who was taken to Northeast Health Wangaratta.

Traffic was detoured via the Glenrowan-Moyhu Road for southbound traffic and Benalla-Winton Road for vehicles heading northbound.

It was reported a truck collided with a car before rolling over.

Cattle exited the truck and went onto the road, creating a traffic hazard for oncoming vehicles.

A cattle truck rollover on Tuesday morning has closed the Hume Freeway from Glenrowan to Benalla in both directions.

A Department of Transport and Planning spokesperson issued a statement advising the road closure due to the truck rollover in the southbound lanes of the freeway at Winton, near Benalla-Winton Road.

“Northbound lanes closed at Benalla-Winton Road, while Melbourne-bound traffic is detouring at Glenrowan-Moyhu Road,” it read.

“Use Benalla-Winton Road and follow the direction of emergency services.”

The incident occurred about 9:30am when it was reported a truck collided with a car on the freeway.

Cattle from the truck exited and went onto the road, creating a traffic hazard for oncoming vehicles.

Emergency services attended the incident and are directing traffic.
