THE Myrtleford SES rescued stranded campers early Christmas Eve following a four-wheel drive rollover on a remote bush track near Rose River.
According to Myrtleford SES controller David Coates, three men became stranded when one of their two four-wheel drives rolled onto its side after one of the drivers steered up an embankment on McCready Track.
He said no-one was injured, however, the upright four-wheel drive was unable to pass the rolled car, leaving the group trapped on the dead-end track.
Mr Coates said they contacted police by making an SOS satellite call on their phone, and police asked SES for assistance.
He said the SES were contacted at around 1am, and it took around two hours to reach the campers, with around an hour of travel traversing 20 kilometres of rough bush track.
The SES then winched the rolled four-wheel drive aside, allowing the three Wangaratta residents to drive past.
