Wangaratta Showgrounds will be a mecca for car enthusiasts this Sunday, as local service and community groups unite to host the annual Wangaratta Swap Meet and Show’ n’ Shine, from 7am to 2pm.
Wangaratta Rod & Custom Club is overseeing the event, and club president Darren Proctor said it'll be "bigger and better" than last year.
"We've got the entire showgrounds area available, which has allowed us to provide more sites, which are bigger in size too, so we've got a much larger range of stall holders," he said.
Site co-ordinator Colin Smith confirmed earlier this week that everything was booked.
"We've got more than 230 sites locked in," he said.
"Stall holders are coming from all over, and we're expecting a bit of everything, but more car parts than bric a brac.
"I know of one bloke whose coming with a heap of old car parts, one who specialises in LED lighting for cars and another specialising in aluminium."
Mr Proctor said there will be plenty of antique and collectible car, truck and tractor parts on offer.
"I'm sure there will be plenty of bargains, and hopefully those parts you need for projects, which can take years in the making," he said.
Wangaratta Lions Club, which instigated and ran the swap meet for more than 20 years, will be focusing on the catering, serving their delicious all day breakfast and mouth watering variety of foods, and there will also be a range of other food vendors on hand to cater for everyone’s taste.
The Wangaratta Kennel and Obedience Dog Club Inc, Moyhu Lions Club and the Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Club of Wangaratta will be assisting with gate control and general duties throughout the day.
The Show’ n' Shine display is again being managed by the Early Holden Club of Wangaratta, with president Adrian Twyford hoping to see more than 50 plus vehicles sprawled out on the grounds of the Wangaratta Kennel and Obedience Dog Club.
"The event is open to all vehicles...and we're likely to have them from the 1930s up to modern day," he said.
"Both our club and the hot rod club members will have vehicles on show... and we expect more locally and further afield."
Trophies to win are open to all categories of vehicles.
Vehicles can enter on the day (for $10) and can be parked between 7am and 9.30am (access via rear showground gate), with trophy presentations at 11am.
Mr Proctor said it was great to see the collective efforts of all clubs involved keeping alive what has been a mainstay on the city's annual calendar for more than two decades.
"It's an important event and it helps bring people from across the North East and further afield to Wangaratta...some stay overnight which only adds further economic benefit, to the local community," he said.
"It's a great family outing and we're hoping to see thousands of people this year."
Public entry to the swap meet will be from 7am (to 2pm), with $5 per person, children U12 free.
