Locals keeping it clean at adopted roadside

A SECTION of the Old Hume Highway is now officially in the care of locals, having been adopted by Wangaratta Landcare and Sustainability Inc (WLS).

A SECTION of the Old Hume Highway is now officially in the care of locals, having been adopted by Wangaratta Landcare and Sustainability Inc (WLS).

The “Adopt a Roadside” program is an initiative of Keep Australia Beautiful which aims to reduce litter on Victoria’s roadsides, stop pollutants from entering local waterways and promote civic responsibility.

A sign has been installed to indicate the official arrangement and WLS member Andy Kimber said the group will now clean up and monitor the amount of litter collected there, providing a detailed report to Keep Australia Beautiful.
