Following a visit to Wangaratta earlier this year in search of Earl Simon Abney-Hastings, YouTubers Zac Alsop and Misfit Minds have released their video about "the rightful King of England".
Alsop, who has 2.15 million YouTube subscribers and Misfit Minds $1.01m, flew into Wangaratta back in March on a helicopter.
Their mission was to find Earl Abney Hastings in Wangaratta because they believed he was the rightful king due to an alleged act of infidelity more than 500+ years ago, thus altering the legitimate royal line.
Alsop said the story stems back to 1442 when Richard Duke of York was away at battle in France and "his wife had an affair with an archer".
"The rules state that an illegitimate child can never be royalty and the throne should have gone to his young brother George Duke of Clarence.
"If you follow the right blood line, you don't end up with King Charles as king, you end up with Simon Abney-Hastings."
Earl Abney-Hastings did live in Wangaratta some years ago, but at the time there was mystery surrounding where he lives now.
During the YouTubers/comedians' visit to Wangaratta they managed to turn what was a quiet Sunday morning into a traffic mayhem as they navigated the streets in a horse-drawn carriage, all while dressed in a costume shop version of royal garb.
While dealing with rejection from Earl Abney-Hastings' personal secretary, and the fact that no one in Wangaratta knew where the Earl actually lived, the YouTubers believed their hopes were dashed and they travelled back to Melbourne empty-handed.
This is all until Earl Abney-Hastings shared the Wangaratta Chronicle's story about their visit on his Instagram page, poking fun at the YouTubers.
"Lovin' life in Sydney NSW," Earl Abney-Hastings wrote while comically attaching a background track of Lorde's hit single 'Royals'.
After some investigation, the YouTubers found out the Earl was set to attend a Highland Celtic event in Melbourne so they concocted an elaborate plan to trick "the real King of England" into giving Alsop the first legitimate knighthood in 500 years, albeit a knighting with an imitation sword.
While Simon Abney Hastings will probably never officially be the top royal, the production is well worth the watch for the non-faint-hearted as Wangaratta features heavily in the production and it does offer a comical montage.
