Police have made a further plea for information surrounding the disappearance of a motorbike rider who fled a collision with a car at South Wangaratta in June this year.
A Wangaratta police spokesperson said despite a thorough investigation, police have been unable to locate or identify the rider involved in the 13 June incident on the Hume Freeway.
It’s believed the rider of a Yamaha YZF-R1, with no registration plates affixed, was thrown off their bike as a result of a collision with a car near the freeway southbound on ramp at South Wangaratta about 6:20pm.
A ground search following the collision uncovered a pair of gloves and a helmet in a paddock between the Hume Freeway and Glenrowan Road, however there were no other signs of the rider.
The driver of the car remained on scene and has spoken with police.
Patrols of the area and a line search by police with assistance of CFA personnel including door knocks, checks with local hospitals and a search of housing yards were conducted.
The Police Air Wing also attended and checked the surrounding area.
Police are appealing for the rider to come forward and to anyone with information to contact police.
If anyone has any information, contact Wangaratta Highway Patrol on 03 5723 0888.
