TWO fatalities in separate crashes have made for a tragic Christmas period on North East roads.

Police are continuing to investigate a collision in Euroa on Christmas eve that turned fatal.

It is understood two motorcycles, both travelling north on Euroa-Mansfield Road, collided about 4.25pm.

The rider of the first motorcycle, a 77-year-old Lemnos man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was air-lifted to hospital where he later died.

His pillion passenger, a teenage girl received non-life-threatening injuries.

The rider of the second motorcycle, a 34-year-old Kialla man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The passenger of this bike, a teenage girl, was uninjured.

Meanwhile, Wodonga Highway Patrol and uniform officers are continuing to investigate a fatal crash in Cudgewa, east of Wodonga, on Christmas day.

Police were notified of the crash just after 9am and on arrival at the Murray Valley Highway scene, found that a passenger vehicle had crashed into a tree.

The single occupant and driver, a 56-year-old Melton South man, was deceased at the scence.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and are pleading with motorists to take care on the roads over the festive period.
