IT will be an all–Wangaratta WDCA grand final after Rovers United Bruck and Wangaratta Magpies took out their respective A grade semi–finals on Saturday.

Rovers United Bruck (RUB) pulled off one of the upsets of the season in their most important game of the year to date, running over the top of defending premiers Yarrawonga Mulwala, while Wangaratta Magpies made light work of Delatite.

The Hawks have had their eyes set on grand final week since the start of the 2021/22 WDCA season and league powerhouse Yarrawonga Mulwala was all that stood in their way.

RUB were first in to bat at WJ Findlay Oval and after posting a modest 9/123 from their 40 overs, the Lakers looked in the box seat.

However, an exceptional spell of bowling from the RUB boys saw the home side roll over the top of the defending premiers, bowling them out for just 56.

"It was unbelievable...one of the best games and best feelings I've ever had in cricket," RUB skipper Paddy McNamara said.

"It was a hard deck to bat on, the ball was doing heaps but it was just doing enough.

"We didn't think we had enough runs but we also thought the outfields slow so the boundaries wouldn't come and that's how Yarrawonga Mulwala bat so if we took a few early wickets we might be in with a chance."

Alex Grant top scored for the Hawks at number seven with 20 off 28 balls, while Darcy Wilson's 13 off 15 balls was on of the most valuable innings in the match.

"To be honest it was out of Alex (Grant) and Matt Whitten for who would play this weekend," McNamara said.

"Alex came to the club late in the season so it was a tough decision but I'm glad I stuck with my guts because he top scored.

"I was pretty angry with myself when I went out (13 off 52) because I thought I left a few out there but then Darcy came out and hit a run a ball.

"We could've been rolled for 100 but Darcy at the end got us to 123 which just added pressure on them (Yarrawonga Mulwala).

"We didn't talk about their knocks as much as we should've because we were so up and about after the game but they were crucial."

Former captain Jacob Schonafinger was the hero with the ball for the Hawks with figures of 4/13 off 7.4 overs, while McNamara took 2/16.

"'Schona' did what he does best and just bowled dot balls," McNamara said.

"We changed things up a bit because we thought we needed to change things if we were going to beat them.

"Usually 'Schona' and myself would open but I opened with Brady Bartlett and then 'Schona' and Jez Wilson came on after which I don't think Yarrawonga Mulwala were expecting."

The Lakers lost 5/4 at the start of their innings to slump to 5/9.

Yarrawonga Mulwala steadied through the middle with Harry Wheeler (13) and Reid Clarke (15) getting their side to 7/50.

However, the Hawks were smelling blood as they rolled the Lakers tail end, taking 4/5 to close out the game.

"The final six wickets were crazy," McNamara said.

"It was such a relief to get that final wicket, we're so stoked to come away with the win.

"We have to go around next week though and we know this game wasn't our grand final.

"It's going to be exciting to have an all Wangaratta final and it's always good playing at Norm Minns Oval so we're looking forward to it."
