APEX Park's new parkour space should be completed in late April, with works progressing well on the project.

For the uninitiated, parkour involves moving rapidly through an area while negotiating obstacles by running, jumping and climbing.

The Apex Park site will consist of beginner, intermediate and advanced sections to cater for all users' ability levels.

Key features include a concrete pipe tower, concrete vault walls, vault pads, natural log–climbing area, log–steppers, workout zones and trampolines.

Development of the parkour equipment, situated adjacent to the park's central shelter, follows an upgrade to the nearby playground area which was completed late last year.

The playground and parkour developments are part of a $1.5 million project being delivered by the Rural City of Wangaratta in partnership with the State Government through the Regional Infrastructure Funding program.

A formal opening for the parkour space is scheduled for May 6, with a fun evening event planned for all ages to introduce the new area.

Bendigo parkour group Walk the Walks has been involved throughout the design process, and will host demonstration days following the opening, including at the May 6 community event.
