The first training session for the 2025-'26 summer (long course) season for Wangaratta Stingrays Swimming Club's all abilities squad was held last week.

A sausage sizzle at the Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre helped welcome swimmers joining the club for the first time.

Rural City of Wangaratta Mayor Irene Grant, Deputy Mayor Harvey Benton, and councillors Tania Maxwell and Dave Fuller also attended to support the group, and to accept the club's gratitude for the Rural City of Wangaratta community grant which has enabled the program to take flight.

Squad training on Wednesday, 12 November will coincide with an enrolment and come-and-try session for interested swimmers, which will be held at the WSAC pool from 3.30pm to 4.30pm (just look out for the Stingrays sign to find your way).

Swimmers with a disability aged eight to 18yrs, and who can swim 50m, are encouraged to attend and see what the squad is all about.

Coaches, Rowan and Adrian will be on hand to to answer any swimming-related questions, and a Stingrays volunteer will be available to explain and assist with enrolment, membership with Swimming Victoria, and to chat about the local events and swim competitions.
