BUILDING activity in Wangaratta is expected to continue off the back of two strong years of development valued at $197 million.

Permits valued at $102m for 2018/19 and $97m for 2019/20 were approved with highlights including the Quest Apartments on Docker Street ($4.5m), SES Headquarters on Handley Street ($3.8m) and additions to industrial warehousing ($670k), along with the aquatics project and Dan Murphy’s Liquor Supermarket.

New residential housing included $52.5m (144 permits) in 2018/19 and $50.9m (151 permits) last year, however, with major new rezoning, developments such as a recently approved 439-lot, 15- stage estate are expected to take off in the coming years.
