THE Victorian Government has released the final designs for the new and more reliable VLocity trains that are set to come into service once the $235 million upgrade of the North East Rail Line is complete, hopefully mid next year.
The trains will be the first VLocity passenger services to run on standard gauge tracks on Victoria’s regional network and will run from Melbourne to Albury/Wodonga after the line upgrade and a rigorous testing program.
The carriages’ new design includes more comfortable seats, built in USB chargers, six luggage racks and overhead luggage storage, a modern catering facility and six wheelchair spaces with companion seats close by.
