DESPITE the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic, there are still job opportunities in certain sectors of the labour market.
The National Skills Commission (NSC) is undertaking research to identify where these job opportunities exist and recently conducted a Jobs in Demand Employer Survey based on employer contacts in the five industries that continue to experience relatively strong demand for goods and services: health care and social assistance; transport, postal and warehousing; manufacturing; retail trade; and wholesale trade.
The latest results from the survey (covering the period June 8 to July 3) indicated that aged and disabled carers were the 10th highest occupation in demand.
