WITH the creation of Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) the Wangaratta Fire Station will have a captain for the first time since it became integrated with long-time CFA member Jason Allisey taking the reins.

FRV comes into effect today and will see CFA staff from integrated brigades merge with FRV as well MFB staff, leaving CFA as a volunteer only organisation.

Mr Allisey, who was promoted from first lieutenant, said he was looking forward to his new role, taking on more responsibility while ensuring the safety of the community.
