TANIA Maxwell (MLC, Northern Victoria) claimed the establishment of Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) will be the “death of CFA as we know it” and wore a black armband to symbolise the day.

Wednesday this week saw FRV come into effect, with CFA and MFB career staff moving to form the organisation, leaving the CFA as a volunteer only entity.

The week has also seen the sudden resignation of CFA’s chief officer Steve Warrington, with CFA board appointing Garry Cook as acting chief officer and Catherine Greaves as acting chief executive officer.
