AFTER years in the making, a film made by local CFA and emergency service members will screen at Wangaratta Cinema Centre in April with all proceeds going to Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).
The group's latest exploit, Trek the Trak 6 ‘The Long Road East’, features members travelling on their motorbikes across the continent from the western most mainland point, ‘Steep Point' in WA to Byron Bay in NSW.
Three of their previous films have also been showcased at the cinema centre, helping to raise almost $20,000 for RFDS.
CFA District 24 commander Carl Stibilj said the group deeply appreciated the cinema donating their space again to screen the movie for free, despite the business having a tough time during COVID.
"We've taken a while to put it (the film) altogether and David Brock, who is a senior station officer at Wangaratta, edits and directs it," Mr Stibilj said.
"He puts all the music to it and produces it, as there is a heap of footage we've taken with helmet cameras and handheld cameras."
Mr Stibilj said the members had been doing adventure riding for a number of years throughout remote areas of Australia, with the films depicting the iconic scenery of where they travel.
"RFDS is a really essential service in outback Australia, and funnily enough we've actually had to draw on them once to get one of our crew members out," he said.
"As a result of that we thought if we're going to do this, let's do it as a fundraiser and try to get as much money for them."
Mr Stibilj said the riding group was made up of mainly Wangaratta CFA members, as well as some from Melbourne and Ambulance Victoria.
"We're hoping to get as many people here on the day and also to support the Wangaratta Cinema Centre, they've been fantastic supporters of us and they've been doing it really hard through COVID," he said.
The movie will screen at the cinema centre on April 17 and 18, at 4pm, and bookings are essential and can be made by contacting 5721 5555 or www.wangcinema.com.au/home/.
