BUILDING better tourism infrastructure and attracting more visitors to Wangaratta city will be a renewed focus if council can secure a slice of $250 million in newly announced regional funding.
The Federal Government has announced a $50 million Regional Tourism Recovery initiative to assist businesses in regions heavily reliant on international tourism, and $200 million for an additional round of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).
Of the $200 million to boost local infrastructure in regional communities, half will be dedicated to tourism-related infrastructure, potentially complementing Wangaratta’s already established brand strategy to attract more visitors to the rural city.
