CFA brigades contained a grass and scrub fire on the Beechworth-Chiltern Road in Chiltern last Thursday afternoon. A CFA spokesperson said 11 units responded to the fire, supported by aircraft, to quell the blaze which was burning on both sides of the road. Victoria Police were also on scene to assist with traffic management. The incident was declared under control at 5:32pm and safe at 6:30pm and crews remained on scene for some time blacking out. Chiltern Fire Brigade posted on Facebook thanking neighbouring brigades from Barnawartha, Beechworth, Springhurst, Browns Plains, Wooragee and Forest Fire Management Victoria for their assistance.
