Farmers and their families are invited to enjoy an evening of connection, comedy, and storytelling at Hall Stories with Damian Callinan, coming to Tarrawingee Hall on Thursday, 27 November, from 6pm onwards.

Presented by the Rural City of Wangaratta as part of the Victorian government’s Drought Response through the Look Over the Farm Gate program, this program supports the mental health and wellbeing of farmers and rural communities.

This event features acclaimed comedian and storyteller Damian Callinan, known for his heartfelt humour, character work, and celebration of regional life.

Best known for his film The Merger, Damian has toured extensively across regional Australia, shining a spotlight on the people and stories that make country towns unique.

In the lead-up to the show, he’ll spend time in Tarrawingee meeting locals and learning about the town’s history, gathering stories that will be woven into the performance on the night.

The evening will include a free community dinner, opportunities to catch up with neighbours and friends, and a chance to take a well-earned break from the demands of daily life.

With many in our rural areas still feeling the impacts of prolonged dry conditions, rural city deputy mayor Harvey Benton said events like this offer more than just entertainment - they provide connection, support, and a reminder that no one is alone.

“Farming life is rewarding, but it can also be isolating," he said.

"This night is about coming together, having a laugh, and celebrating the resilience and humour that define our rural communities.”

The event is free to farmers and their families (use code FARMER when booking), and $25 for general admission.
