Nine-year-old Oxley Primary School student Robbie Eads is cutting his long locks for the first time in six years to raise funds for the World's Greatest Shave.
The World's Greatest Shave is the flagship fundraising campaign of the Leukaemia Foundation.
Previously known as Shave for a Cure, the campaign helps fund the foundation's suite of wraparound health services for blood cancer patients and their families, groundbreaking research projects, and helps campaign for real, tangible change with the ultimate goal of reducing lives lost to blood cancer.
Fundraisers can choose between shaving, cutting or colouring their hair to raise funds.
According to Robbie's mum Catherine Macdonald, the bulk of the hair on his head has not been trimmed since he was three years old.
"Robbie knew he was due for a hair cut, and thought why not do it for a good cause," Catherine said.
"He understands kids lose their hair during cancer treatments so thought the World's Longest Shave was the best cause for his much loved hair to benefit."
Robbie will get his hair cut on Friday, 5 December.
He has set a fundraising target of $3000.
