NESAY’s TAC L2P program recently teamed up with Wangaratta Mazda to deliver a hands-on car maintenance workshop for local TAC L2P learner drivers.

Program coordinator Melissa van Bergen said the evening gave young people the chance to build confidence and practical knowledge around basic car maintenance and safety.

"This initiative aims to empower TAC L2P learners with a stronger understanding of their vehicles, boost their road safety awareness, and build confidence in performing basic maintenance tasks," she said.

"The evening included an important presentation by Leading Senior Constable Helen Parfett from Victoria Police, strengthening the road safety message for our young people."

Ms van Bergen said Mazda has long supported the TAC L2P program, generously providing two vehicles and ongoing maintenance to help learner drivers gain supervised driving experience.

"Their commitment went even further for this event, offering the venue, time, and expertise of their qualified mechanics to make the workshop possible," she said.

"The session was also supported by a monetary donation from the Uniting Church Op Shop, helping create a welcoming and educational evening for all involved.

"The workshop aimed to help TAC L2P learners feel more comfortable and capable with basic car maintenance, promoting both safety and independence."

Ms van Bergen said the collaboration between NESAY’s TAC L2P program, Wangaratta Mazda and the Uniting Church Op Shop was a great example of community partnerships supporting young drivers to become safer, more capable motorists.
