The stage is set – or rather, 'in full bloom' – for ‘Fashions on the Field’ at the Wangaratta Turf Club’s Ovens Ford Melbourne Cup Day Races tomorrow.
Embrace the signature vibrance and glamour of race day attire to the fullest in line with this year’s theme: ‘In Full Bloom’.
Wangaratta Turf Club chief executive officer, Emma Merlo, is encouraging those competing in the fashion stakes to bring their very best interpretation of ‘In Full Bloom’ in this iconic race day event.
“Fashions on the field lets people express their individuality and be part of the fun,” she said.
“It’s the colour, confidence, and creativity that make it shine.”
Contestants will be judged on their style, confidence, and how well the outfit reflects the theme.
“It’s about balance, creativity, and polish – not price tags,” Ms Merlo said.
“The best looks feel effortless, coordinated, and true to the wearer.”
Judges will also be on the lookout for current fashion trends; primarily, the distinctive traits of race day attire, but also sustainable styling and reimagined looks.
“Soft florals, pastel tones, and bold millinery will take centre stage,” Ms Merlo said.
“Think feminine, fresh, and fun – from flowing fabrics to statement headpieces.”
Ms Merlo said there are no limits to who can express their fashion flair at the competition.
“Everyone’s welcome, from first-timers to regulars,” she said.
“It’s a fun way to celebrate spring style and be part of the race day buzz.”
Those interested can register on the day near the 'Fashions on the Field' stage.
