A1: WANGARATTA'S hopes of reaching the finals is now officially over after suffering a narrow away loss to Corowa RSL on Saturday.
Wangaratta were in with a chance all afternoon in the battle between fourth and fifth, however, RSL edged clear over the last few ends.
Chris Randell, Jodie Fruend, Paul King, and Jan Hermassoo were winners over Scott Widdison’s rink (29-22) and Phil Davern, Greg Braden, Steve English and Greg McDonald defeated Jordan Thornton (19-18).
Maurie Braden (16-18) and Trevor Selwood (14-26) both went down.
Final scores: Wang 4 pts 78 shots lost to Corowa RSL 14 pts 84 shots.
Wangaratta will host YMGCR next week.
A3: Wangaratta lost its away game at Moira on Saturday.
Gary Chambers, Denis Wadley, Michells Van Praagh, and Bob McCalman had a win (18-16), while Peter Selwood, Gary King, Chris Bell, and Mick Mackow split the points against Ron Arendt’s rink (18-all).
Gary Fenlon (14-21) and Richard Hermassoo (10-24) both had losses.
Final scores: Wang 3 pts 60 shots lost to Moira 15 pts 79 shots.
Milawa 4 pts 66 shots lost to Bright 14 pts 76 shots.
Wangaratta will travel to Milawa next week.
B1: Wangaratta had a strong away win at Bright on Saturday.
Keith Izard, Gerald Brown, Sussan Singleton, and Gayle King were unstoppable as they careered away to a massive win (35-6), and Richie Allan, Klaus Kazenwadel, Terry Johnson, and John Black also cruised to a big win (31-14).
Ken Essenhigh, Lance Jenkin, Neil Jensen, and Gary Lidgerwood suffered a narrow loss (15-17).
Final scores: Wang 12 pts 81 shots def Bright 2 pts 37 shots.
Moyhu 11 pts 65 shots def Moira 3 pts 53 shots.
Wangaratta host Myrtleford next week and Moyhu will travel to Benalla.
B3: Wangaratta leapfrogged Lavington to take second place on the ladder after a great win away from home on Saturday.
Lyn Kahlefeldt, Susan Bull, Michael Howard, and John Keen (28-12) led the way for Wangaratta, as did Howard Beard, Ann Keen, Heather Coyle, and Thelma Stones who won (22-20).
Graeme Norman, Lyn Sier, John Knight, and Bob Edwards went down (13-25).
Final scores: Wang 12 pts 63 shots def Lavington 2 pts 57 shots.
Wangaratta will host Myrtleford next week.
