A1: WANGARATTA were outclassed by visitors and early flag favourites Corowa RSL on Saturday.
Despite jumping away to a healthy early lead across the board, Wangaratta had no answer to RSL’s second half onslaught.
Trevor Selwood, Greg McDonald, Jan Hermassoo and Leon Quartermain were the only winning rink, with Selwood not having to deliver his last bowl in a close (21-20) win. Maurie Braden (14-22), Laurie McDonald (16-24) and Phil Davern (18-29) all went down by healthy margins.
Final scores: Wangaratta 2 pts 69 shots lost to Corowa RSL 16 pts 95 shots.
Next week Wangaratta will travel to Yarrawonga.

Gary King, Terry Johnson, Ron McAuliffe and Mick Mackow were in control of their rink all day and raced away to a (30-11) landslide, while equally impressive were Richie Allan, Terry Corrigan, Lola Clarke and Gayle King who were untroubled posting a (20-12) win.
Peter Selwood’s rink (12-23) and Brian Godfrey’s rink (10-34) however were not so fortunate as they crashed to heavy defeats against the ladder leaders.
Final scores: Wangaratta 4 pts 72 lost to Corowa RSL 14 pts 80 shots.
Wangaratta will host Yarrawonga next week.
A5: Wangaratta lost its away game to Yackandandah on Saturday.
Ken Essenhigh, John Knight, Graeme Bull and Bruce Desmond managed to grab 2 points for a rink win, sneaking home by the barest of margins (24-23), while Graeme Norman, Sussan Singleton, Susan Bull and Fran Don were unlucky to lose, but ultimately went down (18-20).
Barb McDonald’s rink suffered a big loss (9-26).

In other local games Milawa 2 pts 40 shots were defeated by Commercial Club 16 pts 73 shots.
Wangaratta will host Commercial Club next week and Milawa travel to Chiltern.
B1: Wangaratta was no match for perennial finalists St James at Wang on Saturday.
Barry Watt (21-23), Neil Reid (9-26) and Malcolm Hargreaves (12-28) were all defeated as the home side failed to come away with any points from the match.
Scores: Wangaratta 0 pts 42 shots lost to St James 14 pts 77 shots.
Local side Moyhu 14 pts 90 shots def Moira away 0 pts 30 shots.
Wangaratta travel to Moira next week and Moyhu host Tungamah.
