Cathedral College's 15-year-old boys relay team produced a standout moment for the school at the recent School Sport Victoria Track and Field Secondary State Championships.

Team members Beau Johns, Kalti Ross, Lenny Sims and Asher Royal were crowned 2025 state champions at the meet, which was held at Albert Park's Lakeside Stadium.

Other medal highlights in the college's strongest performance to date at the championships - competing with a team of 19 students - included the 14-year-old boys relay team (Josh Montgomery, Max Coll, Archie Knobel and Harris Bruneau) finishing in second place; Archie Knobel taking third place in the 200m; Beau Johns finishing second in the long jump; Kalti Ross second in the 200m; Rhani Thomson second in the 800m; and Max Coll third in the 800m.

The 2025 team comprised Tom Benton, Harris Bruneau, Asta Elzinga, Jackson Harrap, Beau Johns, Archie Knobel, Josh Montgomery, Jenson Morris, Summer New, Lily Purss, Kalti Ross, Asher Royal, Thomas Sealey, Lenny Sims, Rhani Thomson, Max Coll, Harriet Day, Tom Stefaniak and Eliza Walker.

Sports coordinator Dale Carmody praised the team's performance, saying the result was "a testament to the hard work, dedication and character of our students".

"Their sense of school pride and support for one another were just as impressive as their athletic achievements," Mr Carmody said.

"It's inspiring to see such a strong sense of team spirit and pride in representing our school.

"A number of these students are members of our STRIVE elite athlete development program and are strong performers across a range of athletic pursuits."
