A key piece of Wangaratta Magpies’ 2026 season hopes has fallen into place, with the club proudly announcing the signing of Lachie Di Sebastiano.

A 186cm, 86kg key defender, Di Sebastiano comes to the Wangaratta Showgrounds from Essendon District Football League club Airport West, where he has claimed premiership medals, best and fairest gongs and league Team of the Year nods.

He joins Airport West teammate Tyson Young at the Magpies, who signed for the next two seasons in the week leading up to the 2025 O&M grand final.

The signings will look to fill the void left by the departing Alex Federico and Tyler Norton.

Di Sebastiano classes himself as a strong one-on-one defender, aiming to make the game as hard as possible for his direct opponent.

He enjoyed a strong 2025 season with the Eagles in the EDFL, playing 17 games and named in the best on six occasions, helping his side play finals.

Off the field, Di Sebastiano takes his fitness seriously, and is currently in training to run from Melbourne to Yarrawonga to raise money for Dementia Australia on Thursday, 18 December.
