Wangaratta Rovers will have 36 player points to work with for the 2026 Ovens and Murray season while the Wangaratta Magpies have been allocated 37, AFL North East Border confirmed.
AFL NEB currently operates under a sliding scale based on ladder position for Player Point Caps, with clubs at the bottom of the ladder granted more points than those at the top.
After AFL NEB announced the Player Points Caps for the 2026 season on 30 August, clubs were given the opportunity to apply for additional points.
The applications were assessed in accordance with the AFL Victoria PPS Policy and AFLNEB by-laws.
Each application was considered against an established criteria to determine the cap, along with each clubs’ individual circumstances taken into consideration.
In allocating additional points, only clubs who made submissions were eligible and considered with clubs informed that the additional points apply only for the 2026 season.
In the O&M, only Myrtleford (one point) and Corowa Rutherglen (five points) were granted additional points, while the initial allocation was maintained in the O&K.
