Last Friday, 21 November saw both the squash and racquetball finals for the Milawa Racquets Club’s 2025 spring competition.
The courts were packed with players, spectators and siblings and all enjoyed a very tasty barbecue, some yummy homemade sausage rolls (with a very hot sauce), bread and a salad.
It was a very social evening tinged with fierce competition on the courts for the playoff for the winning teams.
The committee works hard to keep the club family-friendly and this was definitely in evidence on the night.
For the first time, the club also hosted the end of season for junior players, with almost 20 juniors joining in to play on the night.
All the juniors were given participation badges in recognition of their 2025 playing season.
The club has enjoyed strong support with the junior program this season and hope this continues when the 2026 season begins at the start of term one in 2026.
On the courts, it was a fierce contest for the title.
In squash the battle was between team WET and BALD (there is a tradition of naming teams in various genres and for squash this season it was tyres), with BALD emerging triumphant.
In racquetball it was NETFLIX competing with BINGE (a TV channel naming theme), with NETFLIX proving the stronger of the two competitors.
Aggregate winners in squash were Stephen McDonald for the spring season and Matt Lacey winning the Charlie Collins yearly aggregate trophy.
For racquetball, Allister Shaw won for the spring season and Allen Bastin won the yearly aggregate.
The club wishes to thank everyone for their enthusiastic participation, and for all who contributed to make the grand final a very successful evening.
The summer competitions will be starting on 8 December for racquetball and 11 December for squash.
